Its Saturday, the 26th Jan 2008 and I am planning to visit Livermore Vishnu temple. As usual waiting for friends while they are getting ready. Since morning these thoughts were keeping me occupied. These two days I was reading Sharon Janis on Spiritual happiness and thought of scribbling something which is going on my mind. Credit of course goes to Sharon.
Many things happened and still are happening to me in my life. Whenever I look back at those events, it only makes me believe that your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.
I have a very strong relationship with failures and
disappointments :-) I am always accompanied by these two friends from beginning. I am sure those will be there till death do us apart. But one thing is for sure, everytime I was captivated by either of these friends, I witnessed emergence of a wise and strong person as compared to my former self. The reason, I play a lot with my MIND.
The mind is an amazing instrument. When we truly learn to make use of our mind's potential, it's like having a big power tool that is much faster, easier, and more efficient than doing the same work just by hand. We can struggle and struggle through life to barely get by and make it from one challenge to the next, one disappointment to the next, and one transitory victory to the next; or we can harness the tremendous power of our thoughts and intentions to inspire and empower all of our actions, and to create steady happiness in our lives.
Our minds affect the world around us because thoughts have energy, and this entire universe is made up of energy. Our minds affect the world through our thoughts, feelings, and actions, in obvious and subtle ways. To state it simply: Happy thoughts equal a happy world; sad thoughts equal a sad world. Fearful thoughts equal a fearsome world; angry thoughts equal an angry world. Benevolent thoughts equal a benevolent world; generous thoughts equal a generous world.
What we think literally reflects in the world around us -- not just in some airy-fairy, new-agey way, but because of certain logical, scientific, and philosophical connections that may not be fully described or studied in today's public school classrooms, but which are nevertheless primary elements of this experience called human life.
I am more and more convinced that our happiness or unhappiness depends more on the way we meet the events of life, the way we look at those events than on the nature of those events themselves.
Ultimately, our happiness depends not on what we have, but on how we think and feel about what we have. Although this is an obvious fact of life, few people truly harness the power of their minds to practice intentional happiness. Problems in life are unavoidable part of your living. I believe avoiding problems is not a path to happiness, but acknowleding and accepting problems and working your ways throught it with postive attitude is the key which can lead you to a happy and contented life. It will surely enrich a person's life. Once you understand that your mind is the source of happiness, you have an opportunity to consciously take back the reins of your experience of life. You can look at anything that happens, and think, "How can I grow from this? How can I interpret this in a positive way? How can I love, embrace, and make the best of this situation?" You can enjoy the many benefits that come from intelligent, intentional optimism, including the bright and refreshing sun shower of spiritual happiness. With the blessing of your mind, you'll approach life with willingness, inspiration, and joyful ease. Happiness will follow you like a cute little puppy.

Peace Of Mind At The Workplace By Remez Sasson
Work brings together people of different characters and behavior, and this often causes friction, resentment and stress. Sometimes the boss is too demanding, colleagues may be unpleasant, there might be too much work or the working conditions may not be comfortable. The job may be boring, there might be competition or envy between the workers or the customers may be uncongenial or unfriendly. No wonder there is tension and stress.
These are some of the reasons why most people eagerly wait for their vacation. Their vacation provides them a way to get out of their daily life and find some peace. The good news is that you do not have to wait for your vacation. You can learn to gain inner peace and enjoy every moment, right where you are. You can stop fretting and getting tense. You can experience peace of mind and happiness wherever you are. When your mind is peaceful, the whole environment become peaceful.
Now you probably wonder what you can do to make this come true. I am not going to talk here about meditation, though this is one of the best peace of mind tools. Below you will find some simple and easy to perform tips and suggestions to experience inner peace at your workplace.
You may not succeed at the first attempts, but if you keep on performing these suggestions earnestly, you will gradually begin to experience peace of mind. This peace will not only by inside you. It will spill over and influence your whole environment.
1) If the people you meet talk in a loud voice, are impolite and tense, you will probably react and behave accordingly, hereby raising the level of tension. On the other hand, if you stay calm, talk, act and react peacefully, people unconsciously emulate your behavior. You become a leading power, no matter what is your position at work.
2) Each day before you enter your workplace, repeat several times the following affirmation with feeling, faith and attention:"My mind is peaceful throughout the whole day. I radiate peace around me. I talk peacefully, politely and with a smile. I choose to act peacefully".
3) Greet the people you meet at work.
4) Whenever you feel tension or anger building in you, take three deep slow breathes before any talking or action.
5) Pay attention to the words you think, say or write. Use only positive words.
6) Be polite.
7) Whenever you find yourself raising your voice, lower it immediately.
8) Talk in a medium pitch voice, not too loud or too low, and don't let the loudness or pitch of other people's voices influence yours.
9) Several times during your workday find a quiet place. It may be at your desk, or if it is not quiet enough there, it can be at the bathroom, an empty room or some other quiet spot. For several moments visualize a beautiful location that you love or some event that made you happy. Feel that you are there and enjoy the feelings that arise.
10) While working, concentrate on what you are doing. Put there your full attention. This will keep your mind off disturbing thoughts.
11) Don't waste your time and energy analyzing and thinking about people's motives and behavior, but rather try to improve your actions.
12) Before speaking with someone whom you dislike or fear, or someone who makes you feel tense or angry, take a few deep breathes and visualize the two of you conversing peacefully and harmoniously.

Developing Will Power and Self Discipline-Remez Sasson
Most people admire and respect strong individuals, who have won great success by manifesting will power and self discipline. They admire people, who with sheer will power, self discipline and ambition, have improved their life, learned new skills, overcame difficulties and hardships, reduced their weight, rose high in their chosen field or advanced on the spiritual path.
The truth is that everyone can reach high levels of will power and self-discipline through a practical method of training. These inner power are not reserved for a few special people.
Will power and self discipline are two of the most important and useful inner powers in everyone's life, and have always been considered as essential tools for success in all areas of life. They can be learned and developed like any other skill, yet, in spite of this, only few take any steps to develop and strengthen them in a systematic way.
What is will power? It is the inner strength to make a decision, take action, and handle and execute any aim or task until it is accomplished, regardless of inner and outer resistance, discomfort or difficulties.
It bestows the ability to overcomes laziness, temptations and negative habits, and to carry out actions, even if they require effort, are unpleasant and tedious or are contrary to one's habits.
What is self discipline? It is the rejection of instant gratification in favor of something better. It is the giving up of instant pleasure and satisfaction for a higher and better goal.
It manifests as the ability to stick to actions, thoughts and behavior, which lead to improvement and success. Self-discipline is self-control, and it manifests in spiritual, mental, emotional and physical discipline.
The purpose of self-discipline is not living a limiting or a restrictive lifestyle. It does not mean being narrow minded or living like a fakir. It is one of the pillars of success and power. It bestows the inner strength to focus all your energy on your goal, and persevere until it is accomplished.
Both of these abilities are required for daily actions and decisions, and also for making major decisions and attaining major success. They are required for doing a good job, for studying, building a business, losing weight, bodybuilding and physical exercises, maintaining good relationships, changing habits, self improvement, meditation, spiritual growth, keeping and carrying out promises and for almost everything else.
One of the most simple and effective methods to develop will power and self-discipline is by refusing to satisfy unimportant and unnecessary desires. Everyone is constantly confronted and tempted by an endless stream of desires and temptations, many of which are not really important or desirable. By learning to refuse to satisfy every one of them, you get stronger.
Refusing and rejecting useless, harmful or unnecessary desires and actions, and intentionally acting contrary to your habits, sharpen and strengthen your inner strength. By constant practice your inner power grows, just like exercising your muscles at a gym increases your physical strength. In both cases, when you need inner power or physical strength, they are available at your disposal.
Here are a few exercises:- Don't read the newspaper for a day or two.- Drink water when thirsty, in spite of your desire to have a soft drink.- Walk up and down the stairs, instead of taking the lift.- Get down from the bus one station before or after your destination, and walk the rest of the way.- For one week, go to sleep one hour earlier than usual.- If you like ice cream, don't have any, for a day or two.
These are only a few examples of the many exercises that can be conducted in order to develop will power and self-discipline. You might think that practicing these exercises is being tough on yourself, but they add much to the storehouse of your inner strength. By following a systematic method of training you can reach far, have more control over yourself and your life, attain your goals, improve your life, and gain satisfaction and peace of mind.
Show and prove to yourself that you are strong and in control, and practice the above exercises for a little while, before passing any judgement.

KURT COBAIN's last words

Kurt Cobain(1967-1994), Nirvana vocalist left his last words in a suicidal note that was found beside his body...
To Boddah
Speaking from the tongue of an experienced simpleton who obviously would rather be an emasculated, infantile complain-ee. This note should be pretty easy to understand.
All the warnings from the punk rock 101 courses over the years, since my first introduction to the, shall we say, ethics involved with independence and the embracement of your community has proven to be very true. I haven't felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guity beyond words about these things.
For example when we're back stage and the lights go out and the manic roar of the crowds begins., it doesn't affect me the way in which it did for Freddie Mercury, who seemed to love, relish in the love and adoration from the crowd which is something I totally admire and envy. The fact is, I can't fool you, any one of you. It simply isn't fair to you or me. The worst crime I can think of would be to rip people off by faking it and pretending as if I'm having 100% fun. Sometimes I feel as if I should have a punch-in time clock before I walk out on stage. I've tried everything within my power to appreciate it (and I do,God, believe me I do, but it's not enough). I appreciate the fact that I and we have affected and entertained a lot of people. It must be one of those narcissists who only appreciate things when they're gone. I'm too sensitive. I need to be slightly numb in order to regain the enthusiasms I once had as a child.
On our last 3 tours, I've had a much better appreciation for all the people I've known personally, and as fans of our music, but I still can't get over the frustration, the guilt and empathy I have for everyone. There's good in all of us and I think I simply love people too much, so much that it makes me feel too fucking sad. The sad little, sensitive, unappreciative, Pisces, Jesus man. Why don't you just enjoy it? I don't know!
I have a goddess of a wife who sweats ambition and empathy and a daughter who reminds me too much of what i used to be, full of love and joy, kissing every person she meets because everyone is good and will do her no harm. And that terrifies me to the point to where I can barely function. I can't stand the thought of Frances becoming the miserable, self-destructive, death rocker that I've become.
I have it good, very good, and I'm grateful, but since the age of seven, I've become hateful towards all humans in general. Only because it seems so easy for people to get along that have empathy. Only because I love and feel sorry for people too much I guess.
Thank you all from the pit of my burning, nauseous stomach for your letters and concern during the past years. I'm too much of an erratic, moody baby! I don't have the passion anymore, and so remember, it's better to burn out than to fade away.
Peace, love, empathy.Kurt Cobain
Frances and Courtney, I'll be at your alter. Please keep going Courtney, for Frances. For her life, which will be so much happier without me.
I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!

Second Handers
"Yes, and isn't that the root of every despicable action? Not selfishness, but precisely the absence of a self. Look at them. The man who cheats and lies, but preserves a respectable front. He knows himself to be dishonest, but others think he's honest and he derives his self-respect from that, second-hand. The man who takes credit for an achievemnt which is not his own. He knows himself to be mediocre, but he's great in the eyes of the others.
Look at our so called cultural endeavours. A lecturer who spouts some borrowed rehash of nothing at all that means nothing at all to him- and the people who listen and don't give a damn, but sit there in order to tell their friends that they have attended a lecture by a famous name. All second-handers"
"That precisely is the definition of second-handers. They have no concern for facts, ideas or work. They're concerned only with people. They don't ask: " Is this True?" They ask: " Is this what others think is true?" Not to judge, but to repeat. Not to do, but give the impression of doing. Not creation, but show. what would happen to the world without those who do, think, work, produce? Those are the Egotists.
You don't think through another's brain and you don't work through another's hands. When you suspend your faculty of independent judgement, you suspend consciousness".
These are some of the lines spoken by Howard Roark to Gail Wynand in the book " The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand. This book really did influence me the first time i read it. But everytime i read some of my favourite pages or the whole Book again, It everytime has something more to offer, there is something new to learn from it. Everytime it seems as though I'm reading it for the first time.
All that is fine, but it always makes me question myself, and those questions ar not very pleasing.

Salaam Karta Chalu
Today when I got up at 10 in the morning (guys, I slept at 4 AM after having a tiring drive from San Diego last night), it was all dark outside and raining . Thought of listening to Jagjit while me and my roomies were cleaning our apartment. This is the first number we played and my god, whole day I was into this song. Awesome!!!! Now its bed time and Im still listening to this number. Blasted this one in car many times whenever I went out today. The weather was also perfect to listen such beautiful creation. Thought of penning the meaning of the gazal. My attempt to translate it to greater extent. Njoy!!
Huzoor aapka bhi, ahtraam karta chaloon,Idhar say guzra tha saucha, salaam karta chaloon !
(Dear, I thought of paying my respects to you,I was in the neighborhood, thought of saying Hi! to you !)
Nikha-o-dil ki, yahi aakhri tamanna hai,Tumhari zulf kay, saayey mein shaam karta chaloon !Huzoor aapka bhi ................................
(Eyes as well as heart has this last one wish,I shall spend my night under the shade of your hair-locks!)
Unhay yeh zid ki, mujhay dekh kar kisi ko na dekh,Mera yeh shauk ke, sabsay qalaam karta chaloon !Huzoor aapka bhi ................................
(She has this condition, that after you see me you shouldn't see anybody,I have this habit to have a word with everybody !)
Yeh meray khabon ki, duniya nahin sahi lekin,Ab aa gaya hoon, to do din qyaam karta chaloon !Huzoor aapka bhi ................................
(This may not be the world of my dreams,But now that I am here, let me stay for couple of days !)

Fade to Black-Metallica

This is a song by thrash metal band Metallica from their second album, Ride the Lightning (1984). It was the first musical ballad released by the band.
In an interview with drummer Lars Ulrich on the set of the production "MTV Icon: Metallica" in 2005, he does recall how himself and bandmate James Hetfield were obsessed with death at the time the album and song were produced. It was written after almost all of their equipment, including a very rare amplifier, given to singer/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield by his mother just before she died, was stolen in Boston, MA, following a gig at the Channel Club on 14th January 1984. This event forced Metallica to borrow equipment from fellow tour band and friends, Anthrax, for the remainder of the tour. The lyrics suggest the story of a man contemplating, and eventually commiting, suicide.
Live it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free
Things not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this Can t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he 's gone
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
No, I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death Greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye

Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this Can t be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now he 's gone
No one but me can save myself, but it's too late
No, I can't think, think why I should even try
Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death Greets me warm, now I will just say goodbye
Tere Bin-Lyrics
I had desperately been wanting the lyrics of Tere Bin by Rabbi Shergill. After Bulla ki jana, this is yet another beautiful song by Rabbi, written by himself in the memory of his late father!!
So here go the Lyrics with The Translation:
tere bin / besides you
sanu sohnia / my love
koi hor nahio labhna / i shan't find another
jo dave / who'll give
ruh nu sakun / peace to my soul
chukke jo nakhra mera / and indulge me
ve main sare ghumm ke vekhia / i have gone and seen it all
amrika , roos, malaysia / america, russia, malaysiana
kittey vi koi fark si / there wasn't any difference
har kise di koi shart si / they all had some condition
koi mangda mera si sama / some asked for my time
koi hunda surat te fida / some were fascinated with my face
koi mangda meri si vafa / some demanded my fidelity
na koi mangda merian bala / none wanted my demons
tere bin / besides you
hor na kise / no one else
mangni merian bala / wanted my demons
tere bin / besides you
hor na kise / no one else
karni dhup vich chhan / shall shade me in the sun
jiven rukia / (the) way you paused
si tun zara / slightly
nahion bhulna / i shan't forget
main sari umar / all my life
jiven akhia si akhan chura / you said, looking away
"rovenga sanu yad kar" / "you shall weep in my memory"
hasia si main hasa ajeeb / i laughed a strange laugh
(par) tu nahi si hasia / but you didn't
dil vich tera jo raaz si / you had a secret in your heart
mainu tu kyon ni dasia / why didn't you tell me
tere bin / besides you
sanu eh raz / none shall tell this
kise hor nahion dasna / secret to me
tere bin / besides you
peerh da ilaaj / what druid
kis vaid kolon labhna / has the cure to my ills
milia si ajj mainu / i found today
tera ik patra / a note of yours
likhia si jis 'te / on which you had scribbeled
tun shayr varey shah da / a varis shah couplet
park ke si osnu / upon reading which
hanjnu ik duliya / a teardrop fell
akhan 'ch band si / what was locked in the eye
seh raaz ajj khulia / was revealed today
ki tere bin / that other than you
eh mere hanjnu / these tears of mine
kise hor / won't be kissed by
nahio chumna / none else
ki tere bin / that other than you
eh mere hanjhu / these tears of mine
mitti vich rulnha / will wither in the dust
tere bin / besides you
sanu sohnia / my love
koi hor nahio labhna / i shan't find another
jo dave / who'll give
